I was telling a friend earlier about how I have an rss feed set up to notify me when new Sarah Brightman items get listed on Ebay UK and they suggested I share it with everyone else, so here goes.
I don’t really want to get into details about various readers etc so I’ll just say I currently use google reader and I’m quite happy with it.
Firstly if you don’t know what an rss feed is, read this. These days most decent sites offer a feed and in connection with your reader, you have a very nice system for getting updates etc from a huge amount of websites all from your reader.
I was shopping at Ebay one day and saw the rss icon on one of my search pages, so I tried using it and was pleasently surprised, below is the procedure;
firstly, go to your local ebay and use the search box to find what you are interested in

At the top of search results page you will see a drop down menu that allows you to sort the results by various methods. We are interested in sorting them by ‘Time: newly listed’ which will ensure new items arrive in our feed, so select that item from the drop down menu and you will see the results change order.

Now the magic :p scroll to the bottom of the first results page and you will see the rss icon for that page. All you need to do now is right-click that feed icon and select “Copy shortcut” in Internet Explorer (or “Copy link location” in Firefox), then paste the URL into your feed reader.

Your reader should then start sending you regular updates of newly listed items. Remember you can use this to search for anything and add it to your reader.
